Environmental protection

Sewerage systems and sewage treatment plants have been always closely linked to the protection of water resources and of the wider environment. Vodakva is fully aware of this fact and caring for the environment is at the top of its activities.

From a long-term point of view, Vodakva together with the Water Management Association of West Bohemia Region aim to improve permanently wastewater treatment processes in accordance with science discoveries and to extend existing sewerage systems ended in an important sewage treatment plant. Existing sewage treatment plants are being modernized; wastewater treatment processes are being improved and completed, including sludge treatment. Free sewer outlets are being connected and new sewage treatment plant and sewer systems in municipalities are being constructed.

The quality of wastewater treatment is carefully monitored. Wastewater is sampled regularly when entering the plant, at the end and also during the treatment process. Following tests results treatment processes are being optimized in order to meet all quality standards. The monitoring of wastewater treatment quality is carried out not only by Vodakva, but also by the Czech Environmental Inspectorate and by different river-basin administrations.

Thanks to these precautions the water quality in rivers within the area operated by Vodakva has recently significantly improved. This is also proved by the fact that the ingenious river fauna has returned.
